Tracey Purdie – Head Teacher (Diploma of Teaching, Early Childhood Education. University of Auckland)

Kia Ora, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Tracey Purdie I am the lead teacher of Playtopia Educare. The values I hold dear to me within my teaching practised form the importance of quality relationships and teaching go hand in hand. If we do not understand each child how can we understand how they learn. I hold a level 7 diploma of ECE from the University of Auckland. My practise stems from various philosopher’s which help me to plan and deliver quality care and education. I am still as passionate about teaching as I was 27 years ago when I first started teaching. When I plan and deliver an activity I want it to  be a truly memorable experience where the child will always make new discoveries about their own capabilities. Feel free to approach me anytime for any reason.


Nicole Fritz – Teacher  (Bachelor of Teaching, Early Childhood Education. EIT)

Kia Ora my name is Nicole Fritz and I have two beautiful dogs. I hold a Bachelor of ECE from the Eastern Institute of Technology in Hawkes Bay. I am very passionate about providing children with experiences that enable them to become confident in themselves and their abilities. I believe this is best achieved through building strong relationships with both the children and their whanau to enable them to feel comfortable and safe in the centre. I also enjoy allowing the children to learn through their creativity skills as they explore in hands on activities . I am always happy to discuss your child’s learning or any other questions you may have.


Nickie Waerea – Teacher (Bachelor of Teaching and Learning, Early Childhood. University of Canterbury)

Kia ora, my name is Nickie Waerea my husband Cleve and I have two wonderful school aged children. I hold a Bachelor of ECE from the University of Canterbury. I am a passionate educator here at Playtopia  Educare with the goal of providing an exciting environment for children to learn and develop lifelong skills. I keep myself up to date with current educational trends to ensure my teaching practise is relevant to the needs of children in today’s society. I am always here and happy to chat if you have any further questions.


Casey Hodson – Non-Qualified Teacher

Kia Ora my name is Casey Hodson, I live on a farm with my husband and two children who attend the after school care here at Playtopia. I am a non-qualified teacher and I enjoy working within the Early Childcare Centre alongside all of the children. I enjoy watching the children learn and grow in all aspects of the curriculum. My passion is providing the children with art and cooking activities. I look forward to seeing you within the centre.
